Projects with participation open to the whole county

Active 4-H members throughout the county can sign up to join these projects. You will need to contact the project leader(s) for more details on meeting requirements, location and times. 

Note: The project will be listed under the sponsoring 4-H Club in the ZSuite enrollment system. To add one of these projects-- add the sponsored club in the unit section and then add the project.

Projects open to all county youth for 2025-26 will include those below and more will be be updated soon.

 

Project: Horse & Pony

Description: Learn all about horses from breeds, anatomy, all the way to diseases! No experience necessary- this is a great project for first timers.  The goal is to end the project year by attending a Horse Show Competition or a Horse Judging Competition.

Description: Learn about robotics through hands-on learning of the Lego Education Spike Prime Kit.  One of the goals for the project year are to travel to State Field Day together to witness the VEX Robotics Battle!

Description: Pen Pride has been a tradition at the San Mateo County Fair for over 30 years. This is an educational fundraiser for the 4-H County Council. Youth learn how to raise and care for large animals which includes feeding, pen cleaning and exercising. A set schedule will be arranged for all participants.

Description:

Have you wondered about pigeons?  Come learn everything there is to know about pigeons!  They are widely considered the world's first domesticated bird- how can you beat that?!

2025-2026 Archery Project

 

Description: If you like to be outdoors, this is an opportunity for youth to be outside and learn how to safely operate and maintain archery equipment. Youth will practice shooting at targets and will have the opportunity to enter in shooting competitions. This project is designed for both beginners and advanced archers.

Description:  Join this project to learn how a car works and drive remote control cars.  Youth will also build an RC car as a group.

Description: Learn all about goats!  From breeds, anatomy, and general care to kidding, milking and even goat soap making!  You don't have to own a goat to participate. Just come and learn all about goats and have fun!
