Projects with participation open to the whole county
Active 4-H members throughout the county can sign up to join these projects. You will need to contact the project leader(s) for more details on meeting requirements, location and times.
Note: The project will be listed under the sponsoring 4-H Club in the ZSuite enrollment system. To add one of these projects-- add the sponsored club in the unit section and then add the project.
Projects open to all county youth for 2025-26 will include those below and more will be be updated soon.
Project: Horse & Pony Sponsored: Pacifica 4-H Club Adult Leaders: Betsy Landrum, Betsy.Landrum@Outlook.com, Jolene Heckerman, joecollegecool@yahoo.com Youth Leader: TBD Open to: 8+ Meeting Location: Heckerman Home (tentative) Dates/Times: Contact Betsy and Jolene | Description: Learn all about horses from breeds, anatomy, all the way to diseases! No experience necessary- this is a great project for first timers. The goal is to end the project year by attending a Horse Show Competition or a Horse Judging Competition. |
Project: Robotics Sponsored: Pacifica 4-H Club Open to: 9 years and older Meeting Location: Crystal Springs Farm Dates/Times: 3rd Wednesdays, October-May, 6:55PM-8:05PM

Project: Community Pride, Community Service Project Alias: Pen Pride Sponsored: Adult Leader: Youth Leader: Open Open to: 9 yrs old and up Meeting Location: Dates/Times: TBD | Description: Pen Pride has been a tradition at the San Mateo County Fair for over 30 years. This is an educational fundraiser for the 4-H County Council. Youth learn how to raise and care for large animals which includes feeding, pen cleaning and exercising. A set schedule will be arranged for all participants. |

Project: Pigeons Sponsored: San Bruno/SSF 4-H Club Open to: 5 years old and up but parents should stay at meetings for youth under 12yrs old. They are widely considered the world's first domesticated bird- how can you beat that?! |
Project: Making/Tinkering Sponsored: Belmont 4-H Club Open to: 5 years old and up Dates/Times: Third Saturday Oct-April, 10am-11am | Description: Have fun learning physics with making & tinkering in an environment where everyone supports eachother and failure is promoted as a learning opportunity. |
Project: Public Speaking Sponsored: Belmont 4-H Club Open to: 5 years old and up Dates/Times: First Saturday Oct-March, 9:30AM-11AM | Description: Conquer your fears with this Public Speaking project and get the head start on Presentation Day!

Description: If you like to be outdoors, this is an opportunity for youth to be outside and learn how to safely operate and maintain archery equipment. Youth will practice shooting at targets and will have the opportunity to enter in shooting competitions. This project is designed for both beginners and advanced archers. |
Project: Remote Control (RC) Cars Sponsored: Cañada/Redwood City 4-H Club Open to: 9 years old Dates/Times: TBD | Description: Join this project to learn how a car works and drive remote control cars. Youth will also build an RC car as a group.

Project: Dairy Goats + Sponsored: Pacifica & BSM 4-H Clubs Teen Leader: Matteo Frabotta Open to: 5 years old and up Dates/Times: TBD | Description: Learn all about goats! From breeds, anatomy, and general care to kidding, milking and even goat soap making! You don't have to own a goat to participate. Just come and learn all about goats and have fun! |
