Class Information

Classes meet several times a month, with multiple hands-on labs to learn the food preservation techniques, with outside study in addition to class time. Quizzes, special projects and a final examination prepares the trainees to begin their first year of volunteer service.

Important Dates

The first step to becoming a UC Master Food Preserver Volunteer is to understand what it is and what your role will be. Please RSVP for one of the program orientation meetings to learn about the Food Preserver Program, our community involvement, and volunteer participation requirements.

Orientation meetings will be approximately 90 minutes. 

El Dorado County Dates (only need to attend one): 

  • Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 10:00 am
  • Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 6:00 pm

Location: Bethell-Delfino Agriculture Building, 311 Fair Ln. Placerville, CA 95667

Virtual Option if you cannot attend in person

  • Tuesday, October 14, 2026 at 6 p.m. Register to receive the link
Applications due November 1, 2025.

Interviews will take place in November. 

You will be called to schedule an in-person interview. Interviews will take place at the Bethell-Delfino Agriculture Building 311 Fair Lane, Placerville. 

Fingerprints and payment due before first class. 
First class: January 17, 2026 | 9 am - 3 pm
Last class: May 9, 2026
