Strawberries and Caneberries

For those of you qualified and interested in working for UC Cooperative Extension in one of the most intensive and interesting agricultural regions in the world, the application period is still open for Plant Pathology Farm Advisor for Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties.

All are invited to an upcoming webinar that is being held Thursday, Sept 16 from 11 am to noon, and hosted through the Healthy Soils Program with Dr Eric Brennan on cover cropping in furrows of strawberries.

As many of you are no doubt familiar, UC Cooperative Extension, Washington State University and Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary have been working together this past year field testing five different formulations of biodegradable bed mulch in strawberry.

I had a friend, a former local businessman, share with me in the course of a conversation how much he valued that my meetings are consistently now being run on time. I couldn't have agreed with him more, and share some of our thoughts below.
