UC ANR serves as UC’s community ambassador across California, delivering research and education programs far beyond the campuses.
Alongside UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) offices that serve all 58 counties, UC ANR manages nine Research and Extension Centers (RECs) that provide vital spaces for leading-edge research and community engagement.
Research & Extension Centers (RECs)

Located from the Oregon border to the Mexican border, California’s RECs span mountains, valleys, deserts and coastal ranges. These unique sites provide living laboratories for innovative research, testing and demonstration projects that address the state’s diverse agricultural, environmental and community needs.
They bring together scientists, educators and partners from around the world to explore solutions that work in California’s varied climates and ecosystems.
UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE)

UCCE Advisors, Specialists and community educators live and work in the communities they serve, ensuring that research-based knowledge is accessible to every county in California.
Through partnerships with local organizations, schools, agencies and residents, UCCE delivers practical solutions and educational programs that strengthen agriculture, protect natural resources, support healthy living and prepare youth for success.
