Project Learning Tree (PLT) is committed to advancing environmental education, forest literacy, and green career pathways, using trees and forests as windows to the world.

PLT’s award-winning resources support a lifetime of learning, from early childhood through adulthood. Through its broad and diverse network, PLT provides professional development for educators and creates opportunities for young people to explore forests and pursue green careers. By teaching students how to think, rather than what to think, PLT helps them develop the awareness, knowledge, and problem-solving skills needed to make informed decisions about complex environmental issues. PLT cultivates the next generation of forest and conservation leaders.

PLT is an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI), a nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to advance sustainability through forest-focused collaboration. In California, PLT is hosted by University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR), with delivery through UC Cooperative Extension and the 4-H Youth Development Program. For more information or to sign up for a workshop, contact the California State Coordinators.
