Weed Science School is less than two weeks away! Join the UC Davis Weed Research and Information Center for this 2.5 day course. Learn through lectures and laboratory demonstrations at the Bowley Plant Science Teaching Facility at 1200 Extension Center Drive in Davis, CA on September 16-18, 2025.
Weed Science School is an excellent opportunity for weed science professionals to efficiently update their understanding of weed science and the action of herbicides in plants and in the environment. The course is designed for those involved in consulting, research, development, or sales of agricultural chemicals in either the private or public sector.
“Depending on your starting point, UC Davis Weed Science School is either a crash course or an in depth refresher on the fundamentals of weed biology, herbicide action, and related technologies”, according to Cooperative Extension Weed Specialist Brad Hanson. “We start this class with a section on weed biology, ecology, and competition as that’s the foundation for good weed management programs. Then we dig into herbicide chemistry including herbicide modes of actions, herbicide symptoms, and herbicide fate in the environment. The lectures and discussions are supported with breakout sessions focused on weed identification, herbicide symptoms, and spray technologies. Overall, I really enjoy interacting with the Weed Science School students who often are professionals needing in-depth weed science training in their scientific, regulatory, or investigative careers.”
We’ve applied for approximately 15 hours of “Other” and 1 hour of Laws and Regulation CEUs through the CA Department of Pesticide Regulation. More information about how many CE hours have been approved by the CDPR will be available soon.
