From Orchard to Table: Apple Pie Filling & Freezing Apples is the second class in the Apples All Year series from the University of California Master Food Preservers. This free, live online class introduces safe, research-based methods for canning and freezing apples at home using USDA- and UC-approved recipes.

Learn how to can ready-to-use apple pie filling for quick desserts and how to freeze apples the right way for crisps, cobblers, and more—perfect for holiday baking and year-round use.

 

Learning Outcomes of the Class

By the end of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare and safely can apple pie filling using research-based recipes.
  • Properly freeze apples for baking, smoothies, and everyday cooking.
  • Apply safe, tested preservation practices approved by UC and USDA.
  • Understand how preservation methods affect food quality and storage.
