Sahadat Hossain is an Assistant Specialist in Biomass and Bioenergy with the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR), based in Riverside. His research focuses on advancing sustainable bioenergy systems and evaluating biomass-to-biofuel pathways for carbon removal and climate mitigation. Sahadat’s work integrates geospatial modeling, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment to identify cost-effective and low-carbon strategies for bioenergy deployment in California.

He earned his Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy from the State University of New York (SUNY-ESF), where his dissertation focused on optimizing the use of shrub willow biomass to support New York State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) goals. He also holds degrees in Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering, with research and academic experience in Sweden, China, and Bangladesh. His broader interest lies in developing bioeconomy strategies that promote green transitions and support net-zero emission targets.
