About the Event

Create chutney, marmalade, spiced nuts & citrus wheels — safe, homemade holiday gifts using USDA-approved preservation methods. The holidays are coming! Celebrate the season by creating thoughtful, homemade gifts that showcase the best of California’s winter produce. 🎁

This free, live online class from the University of California Master Food Preservers Online Delivery Program introduces safe, research-based methods for canning, dehydrating, and flavoring festive foods to share with friends and family. Learn to craft delicious and beautiful preserved treats — perfect for gifting, entertaining, or enjoying yourself all season long.

NOTE: This class and the December 2nd class have identical content.

Learning Outcomes of the Class

By the end of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Make apple chutney with raisins, a sweet and tangy preserve that’s shelf-stable and pairs well with meat or cheese.
  • Create cranberry marmalade that bursts with citrus brightness and color.
  • Prepare spiced and dried nuts for safe, crunchy, giftable snacks.
  • Dehydrate citrus wheels to use as garnishes, decorations, or fragrant holiday gifts.
  • Apply UC- and USDA-approved food preservation methods confidently and safely at home.
