Desert Research and Extension Center
Welcome to the Desert Research and Extension Center, located in Holtville, California. We are committed to agricultural research and education in the Imperial Valley desert and specialize in vegetable crops, alfalfa, desert cattle feeding, irrigation and drainage management, and pest management. We develop programs to address current challenges in these areas. We invite you to use this site to propose research or to learn more about the Center.
Vision for the Future
As part of its 20-year strategic vision (2017–2037), Desert REC aims to be a regional and global leader in arid-land agricultural and environmental research and outreach. The plan lays out a framework guided by stakeholder input, designed to evolve with changing needs and ensure long-term implementation and assessment.
