About the Event

Tough in summer, succulents can be sensitive in winter. Learn some expert tips in this online class! Please join UC Master Gardener Janice Moody to learn how best to protect your tender succulents during our Bay Area winter climate fluctuations—from atmospheric rivers to freezing temperatures and hail. Most succulents thrive between 60-80 degrees, so many need to be protected during our harsh winter months. You will learn not only how to protect them, but also which ones are naturally the hardiest and which are more susceptible to damage in the landscape.

UC Master Gardener Presenter Janice MoodyJanice’s horticultural roots run deep—she grew up on a nursery that her family started in Half Moon Bay in the early 60’s. Although she majored in Dietetics at UC Davis, her inner passion for gardening never waned and after wearing many hats over the years, she finally found her true calling in life when she became a UC Master Gardener in 2010 and eventually started Seascapes Succulent Nursery and Garden Design in 2016, located in Half Moon Bay. She calls herself a jack of many trades, but a master of only one—gardening. She feels so fortunate to be able to work outdoors, doing what she loves most, and sharing her gardening knowledge with others.
