Sustainable Practices for Beautiful Landscapes in Yolo County – A Master Gardener Library Series Zoom presentation
About the Event
Please join Joanna Solins, Environmental Horticulture Advisor for UC Cooperative Extension in Sacramento, Solano and Yolo counties to learn about sustainable gardening and landscaping practices. Help your yard flourish while conserving water and reducing heat. Joanna will share tips for choosing plants and trees that will thrive in Yolo County’s changing climate, as well as strategies to care for trees and ornamental plants during summer heat and smoke events.
An urban plant ecologist, Joanna's current research investigates relationships among urban plants, water, soils, and people in California, with a focus on climate-appropriate trees and water-wise landscaping. She holds a Ph.D. in ecology and M.A. in geography from UC Davis and an undergraduate degree in environmental studies from Vassar College.
The Master Gardener Library Series, a collaboration of the UC Master Gardener Program of Yolo County and the Yolo County Library, is held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Presentations are free and open to anyone with an interest in gardening. No registration necessary.
