UC Master Food Preservers of Central Sierra

Jars of colorful preserved foods.

You have seen us at the County Fair! You may have even attended one of our FREE Food Preserving classes. UC Master Food Preserver volunteers are agents of the University of California and work through the UC Cooperative Extension to educate the community on the safe practices of food preservation, including pickling, sausages, preserves and much more.

  • Become a UC Master Food Preserver!
    • Attend an online informational meeting to learn about the volunteer requirements as well as the selection and training process. Attendance or viewing the recording of the information meeting is a mandatory prerequisite to apply. Several Q&A sessions between now and November are available to address any questions you have about the volunteer training program. Please visit the 2026 Master Food Preserver Training Program Q&A link for details. The application will be due before the end of Sunday, November 23, 2025. Interviews will be conducted during the early weeks of December with the local programs.
