Second Saturday Open Loomis Garden Day

Master Gardeners focus on visitor’s education and create enthusiasm for water-wise, environmentally focused, and inspirational “Gardening for Today.” Our garden is a living classroom for the Placer County community that emphasizes sustainable gardening, integrated pest management and backyard food production. On Open Loomis Demonstration Garden Days, the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 am to noon, Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. Master Gardener docents will be in the garden from 10 a.m. to noon to answer gardening questions.

Fall Open House at the Loomis Garden

Our fall open house will include California native plant vendors as well as California Native Plant Society members and Master Gardeners who will be in the garden to answer your questions about natives and other gardening topics. There will be activities for the entire family including a Kids Zone.

Who knew your kitchen scraps and yard debris could improve your soil? It's called composting, which not only improves your soil, but helps you save water. Learn about how to set up a system that works for you. Also learn about the different types of mulch and how they protect your garden.

Auburn Harvest Festival

The Auburn Community Harvest Festival features live music, giant pumpkins, scarecrow contests, arts and crafts booths showcasing local artisans and a costume contest and parade for young and old alike. There are carnival games, food and vendor booths hosted by local nonprofits and Auburn’s own Sugar Plump Fairies are out in friendly force. Overall, a day of wholesome activities that cater to the entire family. And it’s free to attend.

Master Gardeners will have a booth with information on gardening, fall planting, and we will be answering gardening questions. And the Master Gardener 2026 Gardening Guide and Calendar will be available for purchase.

Tending Your Gardens After the Summer and Into Fall & Winter, Lincoln Library

Now that Fall has finally arrived are you trying to figure out what to plant? Has the long hot summer stressed your plants and you are wondering how to care for them? If you are new to gardening or an experienced gardener this is the presentation for you. This will be an interactive class with your questions and comments prompting suggestions, solutions, and tips. We will offer ideas for planting veggies, flowers, and herbs, discuss soil amendments and offer resources for plants that will tolerate the hot summers.
